Daumanta Kalniņa kvintets

Daumants Kalniņš is a talented jazz singer with a certain stage charm. He has received the “Spēlmaņu nakts” prize in the category “Debut of the year — stage art” for participation in “Notre Dam de Paris” show, the part of Kvasimodo. He also was nominated for best debut in Big Music Awards in 2012. Daumants has studied jazz vocals in Latvian Academy of music and now performs with his quintet, Professional orchestra “Rīga” and other ensembles in Latvia.

Daumants Kalniņš jazz quintet was formed in 2008, bringing together young, artistic, creative musicians, that are on the same page in their music inspirations. Each member of the quintet is an experienced musician, has worked with different styles of music — jazz, blues, rock, classics, pop. Each quintet member has worked with brilliant musicians in Latvia and worldwide. Special attention is paid to improvisation – instrumental and vocal, and communication with the listener.
